Welcome to the Blog: Mental Health, Body Image, and Everything in Between

Hi there! I’m Eve, a clinical psychologist specialising in eating disorders, body image, and all the mental health stuff that comes with navigating life. Welcome to this blog! Whether you’re here because you’re struggling, curious, or just love a good read on all things mental health - thank you for stopping by.

I started this blog because I want to share knowledge about topics that matter, especially when it comes to body image, eating disorders, and our relationship with ourselves. You know, the stuff we don’t always talk about openly but impacts us every day. My goal is to share insights, education, tips, and maybe a little humour along the way to make this journey a bit more manageable.

Who Am I, Anyway?

As a clinical psychologist, I’ve spent years helping people break free from the misery of eating disorders, body shame, and the toxic ideas society throws our way. I work with individuals to create a healthier, more compassionate relationship with food and their bodies - no diets, no fads, just real sustainable behaviours and lasting self-esteem.

But beyond the credentials, I’m also a therapist who believes that therapy and mental health talk don’t have to be stiff or intimidating. You can be professional and relatable. So, expect a mix of evidence-based advice, practical tools, and some light-hearted moments.

What You’ll Find on This Blog

This space is for anyone who’s interested in:

  • Body Acceptance: Let’s talk about accepting and respecting our bodies, no matter their size or shape.

  • Mental Health: From anxiety to depression to stress - mental health is complex, but simple understanding and psychological tools can make it easier for everyone.

  • Eating Disorder Recovery: Whether you’re on the journey yourself or supporting someone else, I’ll share resources and insights to help navigate the road to recovery.

  • Self-Compassion and Self-Worth: Because we all deserve to be a little kinder to ourselves.

  • Challenging Societal Norms: We’ll take a hard look at the culture around us, from beauty standards to diet culture, and talk about how to push back.

I want this to be a resource you can turn to for knowledge, inspiration, or just a reminder that you’re not alone in this. The road to mental wellness and body acceptance can be challenging, but it doesn’t have to be lonely.

I’m So Glad You’re Here

I’m excited to connect with you and share this space for supporting New Zealanders (and friends of New Zealand!) struggling with disordered eating, eating disorders, low self-worth and negative body image. Thanks for reading!
