Cards for Care - A Student Initiative to Support Individuals in Eating Disorder Recovery

Recently I was contacted by Katherine*, a high school student who led a thoughtful initiative at her school: to create handwritten cards of support for individuals currently navigating eating disorder recovery.

Drawing on her own lived experience, Katherine, with the help of her friends Mea* & Chloe*, invited fellow students to join her in writing and designing heartfelt cards, each carrying messages of encouragement, hope, and care. With the support and approval of the school’s counselling team, a bundle of these sensitive and inspiring messages has now made its way to my practice.

It was an honour to receive them, and I look forward to sharing these with clients who may be touched by the kindness and solidarity they reflect.

This beautiful gesture is a powerful reminder of how lived experience can inspire compassion, creativity, and community.
